As some of you know, I, Nathaniel Havok, am a DIEHARD Raiders fan (I know, feel my pain.). I want your thoughts on Matt Schaub coming to Oakland!
As for my opinion? A 6th round pick, for a QB that has a few winning seasons under his belt? I'm STOKED! Sure, you can use the "Matt Schaub gets on a plane headed for Oakland, throws a pick-six" jokes... But nevertheless, last year was an all-around horrible year for Houston. It wasn't JUST his fault. Even the best of QB's are allowed a bad year. Now, I'm not saying he's in that "best of QB's" category. However, he has experience, has won and knows how to win, and beats the hell out of throwing a rookie QB to the wolves (like Oakland loves to do).
For a 6th round pick... Allowing him to run the offense, while a young QB prepares behind him for a couple of years... I'm down, and I'm ready!

I think Matt Schaub would be a good fit for the Raider Nation. They been in need of a dam good QB for along time. The way I see it, he would be their saving grace. lol.

Being a Houston fan and native, I can comment on this. Schaub might not have been at complete fault for last season. I think a lot of their season had to do with faith in coaching and the system being ran. When Foster went down, Ben Tate was playing with minor injuries so they have no real Halfback play to take pressure off Schaub.
Matt Schaub to me though is a decent QB, he's not a Superbowl QB but he's good. He forced passes to Andre Johnson at times and it hurt him when he did because he was doing it even when Johnson was double, triple covered at times. Those Pick Sixes? That was all on Schaub, he had a funk and like Havok said, QBs are allowed to go through them. Peyton Manning has had a few games of funk, it happens.
My issue and only issue with Schaub in Oakland is this. They have no real targets for him to force passes too. When he's pressured, he folds. Simple as that. Even in good play he folds under extreme pressure from a Defensive Line. Oakland will have a decent defense, including Antonio Smith who also came from Houston last year. Thing is, Houston has a better defense and a better offense and Schaub showed signs of falling off. Some QBs bounce back and others don't. See Vince Young, see Ryan Leaf. I hope Schaub does well, I hope it works out but when Carson Palmer can't make Oakland work, can't WIN there....Do I think Schaub can? Ehh..

...I just thought of something pretty funny. Matt Schaub was traded for a sixth round pick, which means he still gave Houston another pick-six before he left! Lol
